Manage profiles and variables

Customize student roles, form inputs, defaults, and the data that shapes calculation.

Profile types

Profile types establish distinct starting conditions. Create or edit them from classroom settings, then define the profile-type variable values that distinguish each role.

Variable definitions

Each definition specifies where the variable applies, its label, description, data type, input control, allowed values or range, default, required status, and active status.

Use clear student-facing labels for decision variables. Put calculation-specific detail in descriptions or prompt rules where instructors can review it.

Update carefully

Changing a definition affects future forms and calculation inputs. Existing records may still contain values created under an earlier definition.

Reset or restore

Classroom reset and template restore actions can remove variable definitions and values before reapplying defaults. Export or document important customizations before using a destructive restore action.

Student-specific adjustments

Instructors can inspect an individual profile and adjust permitted values when the course design calls for a targeted starting condition or accommodation.
