SCALE user guide

Classrooms and templates

How classrooms organize people and content, and how templates provide reusable starting points.

Classroom

A classroom is the top-level workspace for an instructor, students, challenges, profiles, variables, metrics, files, and results. Users can belong to more than one classroom and switch their active classroom from the application header.

Classroom template

A template packages the instructional model for reuse. It may include:

  • Profile types and their starting values
  • Challenge, decision, profile, and outcome variable definitions
  • Metric definitions and leaderboard configuration
  • AI prompts and calculation rules
  • Default classroom preferences

SCALE includes templates across 28 learning domains, including supply chain, marketing, entrepreneurship, accounting, finance, economics, operations, logistics, healthcare, project management, cybersecurity, and more.

Start or restore from a template

An instructor may select a template while creating a classroom. Existing classrooms can also be restored from a template, but restoration replaces classroom definitions and values. Review the confirmation carefully before restoring.

Save a classroom as a template

When a classroom configuration is ready for reuse, instructors can save it as an organization template. Use a clear label and description so other instructors understand the intended course and learning model.
