Outcomes, results, and ledgers

How shared conditions become individual results and a durable performance history.

Outcome

The outcome represents what actually happened during a challenge: market movement, demand, weather, policy, operational disruption, or another shared condition. It is applied across the class while interacting with each profile and decision.

Result calculation

When a challenge closes, SCALE combines:

• Profile and profile-type values
• Challenge context and variables
• The student's decision—or the configured missing-decision policy
• Shared outcome values
• Metric calculation rules and prior ledger state

The challenge shows Calculating results while processing is still underway.

Feedback release

Calculation and feedback release are separate. An instructor may release results immediately, at a scheduled time, after a delay, or manually. Students see only their own ready, released results.

Ledger

Each completed result creates a ledger entry. The ledger is the student's history of metrics, summaries, explanations, and carried-forward state across challenges. Instructors can inspect student and class ledger views; students see their own released history.
