SCALE user guide

Monitor, process, and release results

Track decision completion, close the round, review results, and recover from processing problems.

Monitor decisions

The classroom and challenge views show submitted and missing decisions. Open the decision list to inspect completion and follow up before the deadline.

Close the challenge

Closing locks student decisions and begins calculation. The status changes to Calculating results; closed does not mean complete.

Do not release feedback while required jobs are still processing. SCALE marks the challenge complete only after student result work is reconciled.

Review before release

Inspect:

  • Student-level result status and ledger entry
  • Metrics and explanations
  • Missing/default decision handling
  • Outliers and class comparisons
  • The generated teacher debrief

Release feedback

When results are ready, release immediately or follow the configured schedule. Students then see their result, explanation, metrics, outcome notes, comparisons, and history.

Rerun or recover

If inputs were wrong or processing failed, use the explicit recovery action: cancel an active batch, reset decisions where appropriate, remove an invalid outcome, or rerun results. These actions can replace ledger data, so read the confirmation carefully.
