SCALE user guide
Metrics and leaderboards
How instructors define results, display them, and create meaningful class comparisons.
Metric definitions
Metrics describe the outputs SCALE should calculate. Each definition includes a key, label, data type, display format, aggregation method, calculation rule, active status, and display locations.
Display locations can include tables, KPI cards, charts, result detail, and leaderboards.
Aggregation
A leaderboard can use a sum, average, latest value, maximum, minimum, or no cumulative aggregation. Choose the method that matches the learning goal.
Ranking direction
Each leaderboard metric specifies whether the highest or lowest value leads. Revenue may rank highest-first; waste or cost may rank lowest-first.
Primary metric
One configured leaderboard metric can be marked primary. SCALE uses it for surfaces that require a single overall rank and for parts of the instructor debrief. A classroom may still display multiple leaderboard categories.
Responsible use
Leaderboards are discussion tools, not grades. Pair rankings with explanations and tradeoffs so students understand what the metric rewards and what it leaves out.
